Vista Ultimate 64 ideal Power Settings?

I have Ultimate 64, with an APC UPS. Each time there's a spike in power in my house, the UPS faithfully beeps to let me know it's working, but Vista just shuts down completely, and then when I turn the computer back on it wants Safe Mode or Boot Normally. My question is, what are the ideal Power Settings to have Vista stay up and running when the UPS kicks in, say for at ,least 5 minutes before it shuts down? The UPS is a APC Smart UPS 1500 and it has plenty of power reserve to keep my box running. The only things plugged into it are the PC and the monitor. I don't want an immediate shutdown and I checked the power settings but I can't find anything like the XP days where it just said something like keep it running for "x" minutes before a shutdown.

Thanks for any help.

Install the latest UPS software for your unit on your computer. Plug in the smart cable. Enter the settings on your unit, some allow either x minutes or x % of battery left. You also want to do a monthly check for your UPS.

Thank you!! That did it. I have a Back UPS XS 1500 and APC has Vista PowerChute software. I did the install, configured it then did a self test and it stays on the way it should. Thanks again.
