Mouse and keybord not working

Hy! i have vista x64 it has been going fine for somthime.Until today i started it neither my mouse nor keyboard were working, I have a wireless usb mouse, i connected it to a extender so i could plug it in a ps\2 slot. it was working well before, but now it stooped working. it works when when i put it in a usb plot.
the keyboard is ps\2. Any i ideas?

Hi JinxJack,

There should be a reset button that you press on the wireless mouse reciever, then press a small connect button on the bottom of the mouse itself to reset the connection. You might see if that will help restore your mouse.

Was there a problem why you could not let it just use the USB connection since it works with it? Just curious.

Actually the Drivers of both Keyboard and mouse(i.e.ps\2) were corrupted. i went to safemode the mouse started working but the keyboard did not, so i inserted the vista cd, and viola it worked.
the question u asked why i use the ps\2 slot instead of usb slot is because it saves a usb slot, so i can plug in more i\o devices.

A Belkin 7 port powered USB hub is a good solution for running out of USB.
