2 hdd drives and chkdsk

i have 2 hdd drives

both ntfs

1-main drive

2-slave drive

when i run chkdsk

i only reads the slave drive

i go to cmd run as adm.

type in chkdsk and hit enter

should it not check both

or if not should it not check

Re: 2 hdd drives and chkdsk

start-run
cmd-ok
chkdsk c:/r
chkdsk d:/r

You can also right click on the drives and go through tools-error checking.

SCSIraidGURU is correct, In addition to his post chkdsk only checks the Windows System harddrive unless you tell it to scan another drive.

Re: 2 hdd drives and chkdsk

the better way to do this is to right click you drive, select properties, click the tools tab, hit check now and check the scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors box then hit start
it would be also advisable to only run 1 check disc at a time as this can be a very lengthy process

and my d drive be the slave drive
this would depend on the fact that your jumper and system settings are correctly configured

Re: 2 hdd drives and chkdsk

chkdsk c:/r should tell you to do it on a restart. Hit y. Then do chkdsk d:/r. This is a repair mode check. I did this method over right clicking the C: and my other partitions. Once its done. Defrag both drives completely.
