Quads.. Q6700 Info, please read!

I was just going over my computer specs and decided to make a post about some temps.. and see what everyone else is getting.

If you have a Quad Core, Preferably a Q6700 or Q6600 Please post some temps you have.. as I built my system, and one for my brother.. mine is done. and I just finished his. His Antec 900 i kno is a better cooling case than mine, but that systems Temps are much better than mine so I'm thinkin I might need to try and Remount my CPU.

Right now I'm on a Q6700 OC'd to 3.33GHz and I'm getting an Idle around 45C when I first loaded my machine first time ever, stock temps based on the BIOS reading was 42C or so.. now I've just finished my brothers last night.. and in the BIOS for the first time on his he gets a temp of 29C and never went above 31. thats a big big difference, and I really want to get somewhere close to those. I kno my OC makes it hotter, but shouldn't be that much hotter.. we both are using the Tuniq Tower w/120mm fan (Anyone replaced that fan, and what with)

So I was hoping to see some other peoples Q6700 temps, stock, OC'd, idle, and Max.. whatever you have, Screenshots. or what not. everything is welcomed. I'm thinkin I might try and remount my CPU and add a little more thermal paste. I put a slightly bigger drop on his than mine, that might be helping.. So please post some Temps..

Thanks!

Re: Quads.. Q6700 Info, please read!

Hi Gunther,

I have the Q9450 OC'd a bit with +.5 volts to run at 2.83 GHz. It runs around 49C to 54C, but it is rated to handle up to 71C. I use the stock Intel CPU cooler on it.

Re: Quads.. Q6700 Info, please read!

thats not bad.. for the stock Intel cooler, I'm thinkin I might remount my cooler with a tad more Artic Silver Paste.. see if it drops a little. Not bad tho, Thanks for fast response

Re: Quads.. Q6700 Info, please read!

Gunther,

I've just had a look at my temps, and after about 4 hours of 60 - 70 % CPU usage (video rendering and conversions), I'm clocking in at 41C:

Re: Quads.. Q6700 Info, please read!

Thanks for the Info, but it doesn't really help me. for one your using AMD Quad, not an intel like I have.. and the big thing.. you're running Watercooling. I'm on Air.. of course your temps will be better than mine.

I'm trying to compare to kno if I should maybe remount my Tuniq, or get a better fan for it.. or if my temps are average.. I think they probably are tho..

But thanks anways for ur info, I almost went Quad AMD. but decided Intel.

edit* I've never got my CPU to 70% yet.. except for stress tests in Prime95.. you must be doing some serious serious Rendering

Re: Quads.. Q6700 Info, please read!

I run under 50 degrees Celsius on my Q6600 on idle and about 55-60 degrees Celsius on full load (Prime95).

I don't think that's bad at all. I'm OC'd from 2.40GHz to 3.20GHz as well.

Re: Quads.. Q6700 Info, please read!

For an apples to apples comparison you guys need to decide how you're measuring. My Q6600 is o'clocked to 3200Mhz (400x8). If I run Prime95 on all four cores then it'll get up to 71 degrees (read from CoreTemp). Runs stable all day long. This is when I put 1.4v through it. If I put 1.5v through it then it'll rise to 78 degrees (but don't need 1.5v to get it stable)

Its the VID rating of the chip that says what the stock voltage is (the VIDs differ even between the same model of CPU). Some chips have a low VID which usually means they overclock better as they'll run with less volts. My VID is quite high so I have to shove a relatively high voltage through her compared to others oveclocking at the same speed. Doesn't bother me thouugh - as it's stable.

Oh yes, heatsink is a Freezer 7 Pro.

Re: Quads.. Q6700 Info, please read!

1.2875.. thats the VID on my Q6700.. how is that??? good, bad.

and I'm actually running completely stable acording to Prime95 with an OC to 3.33GHz with my Voltage up to 1.4v

although when I run OCCT it fails cuz the temps get to hot.. but they don't get to hot in Prime... so either the Beta version of OCCT i have sucks.. or OCCT just stresses your CPU more than P95 does.. I don't kno.. I'm just tryin to figure out some average temps.. as I think I need to remount my cooler here soon.
