I was just going over my computer specs and decided to make a post about some temps.. and see what everyone else is getting.

If you have a Quad Core, Preferably a Q6700 or Q6600 Please post some temps you have.. as I built my system, and one for my brother.. mine is done. and I just finished his. His Antec 900 i kno is a better cooling case than mine, but that systems Temps are much better than mine so I'm thinkin I might need to try and Remount my CPU.

Right now I'm on a Q6700 OC'd to 3.33GHz and I'm getting an Idle around 45C when I first loaded my machine first time ever, stock temps based on the BIOS reading was 42C or so.. now I've just finished my brothers last night.. and in the BIOS for the first time on his he gets a temp of 29C and never went above 31. thats a big big difference, and I really want to get somewhere close to those. I kno my OC makes it hotter, but shouldn't be that much hotter.. we both are using the Tuniq Tower w/120mm fan (Anyone replaced that fan, and what with)

So I was hoping to see some other peoples Q6700 temps, stock, OC'd, idle, and Max.. whatever you have, Screenshots. or what not. everything is welcomed. I'm thinkin I might try and remount my CPU and add a little more thermal paste. I put a slightly bigger drop on his than mine, that might be helping.. So please post some Temps..

Thanks!

Hi Gunther,

I have the Q9450 OC'd a bit with +.5 volts to run at 2.83 GHz. It runs around 49C to 54C, but it is rated to handle up to 71C. I use the stock Intel CPU cooler on it.

Gunther,

I've just had a look at my temps, and after about 4 hours of 60 - 70 % CPU usage (video rendering and conversions), I'm clocking in at 41C:

Thanks for the Info, but it doesn't really help me. for one your using AMD Quad, not an intel like I have.. and the big thing.. you're running Watercooling. I'm on Air.. of course your temps will be better than mine.

I'm trying to compare to kno if I should maybe remount my Tuniq, or get a better fan for it.. or if my temps are average.. I think they probably are tho..

But thanks anways for ur info, I almost went Quad AMD. but decided Intel.

edit* I've never got my CPU to 70% yet.. except for stress tests in Prime95.. you must be doing some serious serious Rendering

I run under 50 degrees Celsius on my Q6600 on idle and about 55-60 degrees Celsius on full load (Prime95).

I don't think that's bad at all. I'm OC'd from 2.40GHz to 3.20GHz as well.

For an apples to apples comparison you guys need to decide how you're measuring. My Q6600 is o'clocked to 3200Mhz (400x8). If I run Prime95 on all four cores then it'll get up to 71 degrees (read from CoreTemp). Runs stable all day long. This is when I put 1.4v through it. If I put 1.5v through it then it'll rise to 78 degrees (but don't need 1.5v to get it stable)

Its the VID rating of the chip that says what the stock voltage is (the VIDs differ even between the same model of CPU). Some chips have a low VID which usually means they overclock better as they'll run with less volts. My VID is quite high so I have to shove a relatively high voltage through her compared to others oveclocking at the same speed. Doesn't bother me thouugh - as it's stable.

Oh yes, heatsink is a Freezer 7 Pro.

My Computer

1.2875.. thats the VID on my Q6700.. how is that??? good, bad.

and I'm actually running completely stable acording to Prime95 with an OC to 3.33GHz with my Voltage up to 1.4v

although when I run OCCT it fails cuz the temps get to hot.. but they don't get to hot in Prime... so either the Beta version of OCCT i have sucks.. or OCCT just stresses your CPU more than P95 does.. I don't kno.. I'm just tryin to figure out some average temps.. as I think I need to remount my cooler here soon.

i c.. ya mine is ok i guess. mine was what most people have..

Well tonight I'm going to remount the Tuniq. and see if this helps.. I might even replace the Fan with this new Silverstone FM121 fan with 110 CFM air output.. see if that helps.. will move more air.. more quiet.. so we will see.. I'll post my finding later tonight..

Well, acdc I can't really see the temps there.. you getting 50's or that 33's.. I cant tell.. sorry. load image a lil bigger maybe. idk.

Well I did a remount last night on my tuniq.. and I got a small improvement. I guess every little bit helps. last night my Q6700 at 3.33GHz idle'd around 45-47 and today it's about 42.. so a good 4 or 5 C drop.

gettin
42C
44C
39C
42C

I did replace the exaust fan with that Silverstone FM121 (one of the best fans I hear). and it's actually really load. but it sure does move a lot of air, but didn't really help my temps I don't think. So I'm going to take it out. or turn it down.. Plus the Artic silver Paste used for CPU cooler mounts takes up to 150 hours to fully SET, and lots of people get a lil bit cooler temps after a good week or so, hopefully after it sets my temps get even better.

I am running my q6700 at 3.7, my idle temps are 34 on cores 1&2 and 31 on cores 3&4. At full Prime Load after about 4 hours the highest it got to was 69-70. I am using the ThermalRight Ultra 120 extreme with dual Scythe S-flex fans.

it only reaches those temps while running Prime95 for 4+ hours on all 4 cores. It will never see near those temps while gaming or encoding. I have only see it reach mid 50's during those tasks :D

My Computer

your at 3.7 and idle is 34 or so.. thats pretty good, ya thats about where the other Q6700 Build I did sits.. but mine sits at a higher temp. not sure why, and can't get it lower. today after work I turned system on to check again and it now idles around 39 or so. right now its

39C
42C
38C
39C

These are ok I think.. not bad temps.. and at Full load playin COD4 for a while it got up to 56 MAX.. and with Prime95 the highest I saw was 63C
so i think my remount helped a little.. still not exactly where I want it to be.. but good enough for now! plus you have Dual Fans on your Cooler, I only have the one inside my Tuniq..

I just don't know how to embed picture into my post like other people can..... For example thread about Vista Reboot times... or like Dzomlia did in his post
I wouldn't know how to present it like others did....

But if you do right hand click and select view image it will open it and then you can use zoom in to a full size which will allow you to clearly see temps

Edit
I figured it out xguntherc Here it is... Maybe still too big but it is only 75x75 pixels

I got ya acdcfan. I see them now. Thats not bad actually for it bein a Stock Cooler.. but if you plan to overclock your CPU anytime soon you'd better get a different cooler, I'd suggest the Tuniq Tower 120, or the Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme.. those 2 are known to be the best.

So mean6, can I see a screeny of that, cuz that means you have a pretty damn good overclocker, cuz I'm not even that low of a temp on a 3.33GHz OC.. I wanna see a screenshot cuz I'm looking to see your VID. Coretemp shows it at the bottom. they differ between the same chip. like my Q6700 is 1.2875 and some peoples go up to 1.3050 and down to 1.2400 the lower the better. so if you got a screeny lets see it..

Also I just messed with my Tuniq Cooler some more. I tightened the Screws all a little more, mainly the top farthest to the back screw thats impossible to reach when Mobo is inside the case, after getting it tighter, my temps are idle at

It is not stock cooler but ThermalTake Big Typhoon 120mm fan

I don't plan to overclock at all. Machine is powerful enough
