| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | 32 bit premium TO 64bit Premium help!!! Hello my first post and i apologise if this is a simple question with a simple answer but i am very confused. Just got my new PC which has 4 gig of ram in but premium 32bit now as i understand that 4 gig would be wasted if i didn't have 64bit installed. My computer meets the requirements but here is my question. What do i actually have to BUY? it seems so confusing do i buy Vista Ultimate which would cost me £200 or is there something else i can buy which would be cheaper? I have looked around and the only thing i can find is these dabs.com - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Prem SP1 64-bit OEM (66I-01939) And it sounds very confusing when it says it is used by system builders obviously i am not a system builder and i want an easy installation process. Please someone shine some light and give me an answer to probably a simple question. Also if you could link what i would have to buy and would it be a case of just putting in the CD and off i go? Many many thanks in advance. |

Well, ya you need 64bit to utilize all 4GB of ram.. as for OEM, and system builder. it does not mean it's for a builder and that it's not a full or easy copy.. it means that it's just a single, one time use, no upgrades, and no Microsoft support.. for people like me that built his own machine. and would not use microsoft even if I had a problem.. So, you can either go with a new OEM disk.. or you can always use this.. Windows Vista Alternate Media you only pay the shipping, so like $10-$15 and they send you a upgrade from your current 32bit.. to a 64bit.. check out the link. they send you a new disk in the mail with 64bit.. Good Luck! |
