Vista - Installing Xp and Vista on same HDD. Major HELP needed.

Another problem by me. I bought vista about 6 months ago, I installed it and everything runs OK. Now i want to have XP AND Vista on the same HDD. I know thats possible with disk partition and i did that but the problem is that i can go further with the installation of my XP home.
When i start the installation of XP (press Enter to install XP etc) it asks me to choose a partition, i choose the one i made earlier (25GB of total size). It loads the necesary drivers and it says press enter to reboot(or wait 15 secs to reboot automaticaly). Ok here starts my problem:
It reboots, but then i see only a runner and nothing more. ( _ )
i wait for about 5 minutes and it still does nothing, and i dont know what to do. I am forced to fix startup with the Vista installation disk but my XP is not installed.
I have searched the bloody web (STFW) and i found nothing, only some data i already knew.You are my last chanse guys. I love XP as much as i love Vista but there is there a way have both OSs without problems? Please help, any help apreciated and accepted.

Then you should download EasyBCD (Google) and install XP into the bootloader.

Then you can always pick your Windows.

That link Loki posted is the same link I recommend to *everyone* who wants to boot multiple OSs from their HD, and APCMag has it all covered - whether you want to dual boot Vista and XP, Vista and *nix, XP and * nix, and regardless of which you have installed first. Also, they have a nice section for *triple* booting as well....

It is really easy to follow, and has excellent screen shots as well. You'd do well to read it thoroughly *before* attempting to start out.

Well, i carefully read the whole page you gave me and, besides that i knew all these, i couldnt fix this.
You can read my problem again. I am very specific, and everything stops with a black screen and a runner ( _ ) on it. That forces me to boot the vista dvd and fix the startup.
I want to install XP and that way didnt worked, probably it is something on my machine.
Any ideas?
