| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | XPx32 to Vistax64 upgrade on Pentium 4 I recently tried to install Vista Ultimate x64 on a XP Pro x32 machine with a 2.8ghz pentium 4 processor and a D865PERL motherboard. When booting from the DVD to start the process, i get a message saying that the install cannot proceed because the CPU does not support 64-bit. Is the problem truly that the pentium 4 will not work and i need a different processor or am i missing some drivers? |

Download Search Results Hope this helps, Shawn |

This will give you the definitive as to whether your processor will support 64-bit: Intel Download Centre Look under the 'CPU Technologies' tab to see if it supports Intel 64 Architecture. |

If you go to Filter Summary and you enter EMT64 as a filter, you'll notice that *all* Socket 478 CPUs disappear. There never was (to my knowledge) a Socket 478 P4 CPU made by Intel that supported 64bit architecture. |
