Missing arrow next to Lock this computer in Vista

Somehow I don't know what I did but now I'm missing this:
Click the arrow next to the Lock button to access the Shut Down option
When I want to choose how to shut down the computer, this arrow is gone.

Does anyone know how to get the arrow back

Thanks
Barnabas

Re: Missing arrow next to Lock this computer in Vista

Hi Barnabus,

If you do not see the arrow at all, then see if adjusting your display settings for screen resolution and the DPI settings will help. They can cause this sort of thing sometimes if the get set wrong from say exiting a game. It can cause the display to distort by stretching or shrinking it to fit the screen.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Did you play with gpedit ?
Go there and see if some changes have been made.
Run gpedit.msc
User configuration --> administrative Templates --> start menu and taskbar

Hi Sid,

Barnabas is using one of the Home editions of Vista. The Policy Editor, gpedit.msc, is NOT available in these editions.

You could try Right click on Start.....Properties....Customize....click USE Default settings.
You may have to reboot.

Re: Missing arrow next to Lock this computer in Vista

Fixed...Just used system restore to go back about 4 hours and have the arrow next to the Lock button again. Sometimes System Restore can save a lot of hassle. Thanks for all the suggestions gang wysiwyg, sidney1st, and brink.
