Error trying to secure a folder

This is a strange one. I have two users accounts. #1 is an administrator
account, password protected, that I use when necessary and I also want to
keep others out of it. #2 is a standard account for all our general
purposes. I was trying to remove the standard user from having permission to
access the "Documents" folder under #1 and was trying to uncheck the
"Include inheritable permissions. . ." box when error warnings came up. I'm
sorry I can't repeat them verbatim, I'm afraid to try it again. There were
three and each said "there was an error because of. . . one said "My
Pictures," the next "My Videos" and the last one said "My Music." Yes, all
folders from an XP system. I do not have nor have I ever had these folders
under this folder. I do not know where this information is coming from. So
after I cancel these errors, then I find that the folder is now "Shared"
with the other user account.???

They are not folders, just junction links unless you change the location of the Documents folder.

No, I did not move the Documents folder. What are junction links? Anything I can/should do?

Okay so I tried it again and when the error messages came up I clicked continue. Everything seems fine now. Is that what I should have done?

probably - although I don't see why you are trying to limit users from having access to the Documents folder under the 'administrator login' account - they already *don't* have access to it - they would need a username (usually already supplied if you only have a single administrator account) and password since they are limited users, with UAC enabled. With an administrator account, it would just ask for verification.

If the account was an admin account it would simply ask for verification to get administrative privileges to access the folder....

By default in Vista, folders under %users%\{login} are not accessible to other logins that are standard user accounts.

Unless, of course, I am misunderstanding what you were saying....and that is *entirely* possible - I am not infallible :D

I don't know if it's just my computer but my standard user account can read and access documents that are under my administrator account. I'm referring to an administrator I made not the hidden administrator. I don't want the household to have access to my administrator's documents at all but there does not seem to be an easy way to do this with Vista.
