Hi all
is there any registry setting to fix the display of picture files (bmp, jpg...) in windows explorer (thumbnail view). I just installed vista and ACDSee (a few days ago) and just today noticed that picture files in thumbnail view have the ACDSee icon

can anyone send me the default (vista) settings for .JPEG and jpegfile from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

thanks

This is why when you install Acdsee, you do a custom install and DON'T associate Jpeg files with it.

But anyway, open Regedit, and navigate to "HKCR\.jpe\PersistentHandler"

Is the default value "{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}"? Check the same for .JPG and .JPEG

Make a backup of whatever values are there, and change them too the value I gave above. Reboot, and see if your thumbnail views are back. If not, then restore the default values for PersistenHandler to whatever value they where, and then uninstall ACDsee to see if that will restore them.

If uninstalling ACDSee worked, then install it again but DON'T associate JPG files with it. I have ACDSe Pro 2 installed, and thumbnails show just fine here.

I see now what's happening. Try this:
  1. Open an Explorer window
  2. Click on "Organize"
  3. Click on "Folder and Search Options"
  4. Click "View"
  5. Is the "Always show icons, never thumbnails" option checked? Remove the check and click OK

Does this work?

Well Thank You Boss Dzomlija

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM - and it is fixed now

thanks

Glad it worked.

My apologies for taking so long to say so, but a stable internet connection here in South Africa is a very rare thing. I've only just now had my connection restored...
