| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Altered Hosts File I am trying to change my hosts file so I don't allow access to a particular site. In the process I accidentally changed the extension of the orignal HOSTS file, it is now a .org file and I cannot find a way to get rid of the extension. There are no previous versions to restore to, and renaming no longer changes the file type. How can I either create a new HOSTS file, or restore the orginal one? Thanks. |

| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Re: Altered Hosts File Thanks, all fixed. Now maybe you could help with the original problem. There is one website I want to block. I tried adding: 127.0.0.1 websitename to the hosts file and saving it (from Admin) and when I try to save it says Access Denied. Do you know how to alter the hosts file and get it to save? |

Just added modify permissions to mine and was able to change it without a problem. |
