| Junior Member | Installation on new Hard Drive Vista 64 I have been having issues with the .NET framework and my V-Ultimate 64 machine. I essentially can no longer sync with my ZUNE. (I do not want an IPOD, forget it). I wasn't able to do a machine repair I believe because of SP1... so I went out and bought another hard drive to put in the machine. I tried the following sites suggestions to install the new OS on the blank WD320 HD and had no luck. I had my machine stripped down to just the video card, an old plug style keyboard, no mouse and nothing USB plugged in. NO LUCK either. My machine is AMD 6000+, two 750GB hard drives, Vista Ultimate 64, 4GB RAM, one new 320GB hard drive, all sata, two DVD roms (one disconnected) and dual NVIDIA Fatal1ty 8600's in SLI (one disconnected for the new install). Essentially when the installer finishes and attempts to restart to finish its install I get a blue screen? What is the issue? |

| Guru | Re: Installation on new Hard Drive Vista 64 I would first uninstall your Zune applications from .NET, reboot, reinstall them. Check event viewer for errors. You could try repairing .NET by uninstalling all the .NET applications and then .NET itself. Reinstalling the OS and .NET is usually easier. The last time I removed .NET and all the apps and reinstalled it took 6+ hours to accomplish on a highend workstation. It is very painful. I would also verify what the problem is before doing them. .NET version 2 service pack 1 and .NET version 3 is not compatible with certain apps. I can only run .NET version 2 with them. Do some research before a reinstall. |

| Junior Member | Re: Installation on new Hard Drive Vista 64 Thanks, ZUNE support ran me through a whole lot of "troubleshooter" but was scared to uninstall the .NET/Framework folder without backing it up. This seemed impossible and they didn't seem to know how to set the privledges to allow me to rename or backup the .net Framework folder. Its different than setting any other folder permissions and even logged in as an admin I got slapped my vista when I tried. I have removed the zune software several times and nothing seems to work. After 4-6 hour of tech support with Zune I opted to just get another hard drive ane reinstall vista 64 which has been a paint as well. |
