| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Destination folder access denied Hello. Like many others, I am getting the "Destination Folder Access Denied" warning when I try to download/save anything. I'm also getting the "Windows needs administrator permission" warning. I am the administrator. I am the only user on this computer and mine is the only user account, and it is set up as the admin. Does anybody have any help/suggestions? thanks! |

Usually you would want to save them to your desktop or the C:\Users\(user name)\Downloads folder first, then move them where you like afterwards. Vista will not let you directly download and save a file to a system area, only a user area first. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Re: Destination folder access denied From what I've gathered, the best way to get around this is to disable the UAC. However, the only way I've found to do that is to type secpol.msc into Run, however, I get a message from vista saying that windows cannot find it. Any suggestions? |

Right click on the C:\Users folderand, click on the Security tab, click on Administrators (your computer name) to see in the bottom pane. |

| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Re: Destination folder access denied It does have full control. I just changed it so that everyone has full control (I'm the only one who uses the computer) and tried again and it still wants administrator permission. The thing is that windows says it needs admin permission, but doesn't ask me for my admin password, nor does it tell me how to actually grant admin permission. |

In the command prompt copy and paste: attrib -r -a -s /S /D /L Press Enter. This will remove any system attributes that may have been placed on your user folders. See if it will let you save to the desktop or another user folder afterwards. Shawn |

| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Re: Destination folder access denied Another question: from what I've read, the administrator may not be enabled on my computer. I've been directed to the computer manager folder and told to expand the 'local users and groups' and enable the administrator from there. However, in my computer manager folder there is no local users and groups folder to expand. Any ideas? |
