Automatic power plan change?

Is there a way to get Vista to automatically change power setting plans depending whether a laptop is on mains or battery?

I want to run mine on high performance when plugged in but on balanced when using the battery. I know I can manually change which plan to use, but surely there must be a way to get Vista to recognise which power supply it is using and change settings accordingly.

Normally, it is done automatically!

Re: Automatic power plan change?

Let me clarify that last post of mine. Vista recognises automatically when it goes onto battery but, certainly on mine, won't change power settings.

Re: Automatic power plan change?

If you check the power plan *options* you'll see that each power plan comes with set options on how to run based upon whether you are on AC or on battery.

The power plan *itself* does not change, necessarily, but the way the plan is implemented does.

Please do not contact me via PM or IM for help - post it in the forums so that others may benefit from solutions that may be found / offered.

Re: Automatic power plan change?

Thanks johngalt, you've cracked it

I've now changed several settings in "Options" which I hadn't realised affected the implementation of the various plans.

Once again, many thanks.
