| Vista home premuim 32bit | sleeping Vista I have a new computer with Vista home prem. All seems well except that it will not wake up after going to sleep. Shake the mouse, push all the keys on keyboard and nothing happens. The computer is still on because there is lights on and cd tray will open. Have to shut down manually and then restart. I have turned sleep mode off completely for now. The computer is a Compaq Pres. PC. I assume something in Vista needs to be turned on but don't know what. Any help would be appreciated Harry |

| Ultimate SP1 x64 & x86 | Re: sleeping Vista Hi Harry and welcome to the Vista forums! Difficult to find a solution if we do not know how your power options are configured in Vista and in the BIOS. In the bios, check that you can wake up with the mouse/keyboard. In Vista's power options, check the multimedias settings (allow the computer to sleep) There are a lot of options to check. Please have a look and come back. |

| Vista home premuim 32bit | Re: sleeping Vista Sorry taking so long but we celabrated Canada day yesterday. I have no idea how to get into the bios. Checked vista power options again but could not find anything to work with. The monitor goes to sleep after 10 minutes and then wakes up with a move of the mouse. Sleep is turned off for the computer for now so problem is solved that way but is not the right solution. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: sleeping Vista Hi Harry, Welcome to Vista Forums. ![]() Normally you press F2 or Delete while the computer first starts to boot to enter the BIOS. It will usually tell you on the screen what key to press for a brief moment. In the mean time, this tutorial may help you find what the problem is. Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems Hope this helps, Shawn |
