USB Devices not responding properly in Vista x64

Hi, i've had a search for an answer on these forums, but not really found what i've been looking for, so i'll ask directly.

I work in an office where we have just acquired four new Dell PC's with Vista Buisness 64bit Edition, three of which are up and running. Everything seems fine, except for when i try and use my USB Pen drives/Flash disks (of which i have 4 diff ones !); either they dont show up or they do but stop responding if you try and explore them. Just occasionally i can access one of them, but it often takes 30 secs to 1 min to do a command on it such as properties or browse a folder (explorer comes up as not responding for a while, then rights itself). Even my Creative Mp3 player and small Ext hard drive suffer the same fate. And yet if i plug them into one of the other two pc's they work fine. The hard disk was interesting, because when i plug it in, the light comes on, but it doest seem to power up; normally it vibrates slightly as it spins up. But as i said, on the other PC's its fine. However, i do have a USB Western Digital Ex Hard drive connected at bootup (mains powered) which does work no problems...

I dont get any device errors or requests for drivers. The devices either appear or dont, and if they do, they either respond very sluggishly or lock up the PC (and the PC recovers fine if i unplug them)

Any ideas appreciated.

Thank you for your reply !

I tried the link you suggested; it took me to the 32bit version after the "Validation" link; however i managed to track down the 64bit version; however when i ran it i said "The update does not apply to your system" :(

I also Installed Service Pack 1 (3 bloody hours !) on Friday, but it made no difference. I also bought in my Sanyo HD2 camera, which worked fine ! So i tried a flash disk afterwards and the machine locked up as per usual. I then found i couldnt use the camera til i rebooted.

Poxy Vista ! I wish we had got XP.

Many thanks for trying to help though ! That KB925528 looked the buisness; just cant understand why it said it wasnt apllicable to my system.
