Why does my new Laptop do this?

New HP dv2000 laptop:
Vista 64bit Ultimate SP1
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU [email protected] GHz
Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS
4 GB RAM

This Laptop has been in service since 25 June 2008

The screen in the picture below has shown up twice. Once upon awakening from sleep and once while reading a document in Firefox.

The only cure is to press and hold the on/off button until the system powers down.

Windows says that I have the most current video driver.

What else can I check before sending it back to HP?

Just send it back, that's got to be a hardware fault.
