In my Vista 32 Bit Home Premium there is a yellow triangle icon with an exclamation mark inside it. I don't know what it is and it won't respond if I double click it or mouse over it. Does anyone know what this is?

If it's in your system tray, it means your video driver crashed and recovered.

If it's in your system tray, it means your video driver crashed and recovered.

That among other things, is one reason, it's basically a hardware failure signal from Device Manager and can be shown for a number of devices.

Open Control Panel - Device Manager and find what item has a yellow with exclamation on it and post here what you find please. Then we can help you find a solution for this, which may be as simple as a reboot in many cases...BTW, have you done a reboot?

I have a done a reboot and it seems to have fixed the problem, but its happened like 2-3 times and I wanted to know what was the problem.
In device manager nothing has a yellow exclamation mark except when I reveal hidden devices. Standard PS/2 Keyboard has the yellow exclamation mark.

Hi

Is the exclamation point visible in the tray when you find this PS/2 KB mark in Device Mgr? Or did you find this after the tray notification was removed with the reboot?

If this was after the tray icon was gone and your keyboard still works, that one could be Ok. Like mine, I have 5 keyboard listings but only 1 KBoard...have a look below.

Anyway, if this was found after you cleared the tray icon, it's very possible that this was not the same one that caused your tray notice to show up, so if & when it happens again, check Device Mgr to see what it lists and post that info please.
If your keyboard doesn't work with this exclamation notice now, reinstall the KB drivers and see if that fixes it.

Thanks, for the info.
Next time I find the yellow icon I'll check it out.
I'm using a wireless keyboard not a PS2 one and it works even when the icon is there/after reboot.

Hey...No prob bud, that's why we're here!!

Yah, I kinda thought the keyboard one was a non issue, or you woulda said sumthin about it eh.
It could very well be that the keyboard one was also the cause of the tray icon notice too. I've noted on other occasions and machines that the tray icon is not always displayed for many device problems, and then next time it is...it seems to be fairly indiscriminate really...like, only when it feels like it kinda deal.
Typical
