Hi, im running windows vista ultimate, i have only recently installed it about 3 days ago. one thing that i paticularly like about vista is the sidebar and how it can be customized to my own preference. just one "tiny" little problem. i downloaded loads of different gadgets. but none of them install. and press install on the gadget. the window then dissapears and the gadget does not show up. even in the gadgets menu of the sidebar.

any help would be greatly appreciated

No, I haven't ever had that problem, nor have I heard about it before, I'm sorry. But if/when you get it fixed, remember to post the solution here, so others with the same problem can find the solution.

Hi Scotty!

How many gadgets do you have running right now? Could be that you have too many to view on your screen.

To find out, right click on the plus sign at the top of the sidebar, go to properties then click on the "View list of running gadgets" button near the bottom of the window that pops open. If you have more than 4 or 5 running, chances are you have too many running to view them all.

Let me know if that helped.

When you say they will not install - Can you detail *exactly* how you are trying to get them installed?

Because it sounds like you are using Firefox (Been there done that) - and it doesn't seem to want to work.

With Fx, you have to download the gadgets and then manually install them from the location where you downloaded them to.

With IE the installation works.

However, it is also possible that a setting or two in IE can prevent installation - in which case you will want to rest IE to make it work.

I have seen this issue before and it was caused by the executable blocking feature in Vista.
When you d'laod the gadget, save it something like your Downloads folder, then go to that folder and right click on the gadget and select Properties. Near the bottom you'll see a button called "Unblock", click that.
Now double click on the gadget again and click "Install". Now go to the Sidebar and select Add Gadgets and see if it installed this time.
I've added a screenshot to show you where the Unblock button is.
