Buying new laptop - possible to instal XP

Hello,

I'm going to buy a new laptop (Toshiba or HP) that already comes with Vista but I would like to install XP on it. However, the retailers said to me that is not possible and even if they could do it, a lot of the machine components would stop working (multimedia buttons, wireless, etc).
Is this true or will I be able to install XP and have a fully working laptop?

Regards,
Miguel

Generally Laptops come with pre-installed software to run the "extra" features they may have, such as media buttons. Usually you can download the drivers required for your laptop from the laptop manufacturers website and proceed to format your Hard Drive to install XP.

Unfortunately you cannot installed XP "over to" of Vista (like an upgrade) due to the fact that Windows XP is older, and Microsoft did not design older Operating Systems to be installed over new ones.

Basically you need to get all of the drivers (from the manufacturer) for your laptop burned to a CD, you then need to wipe your laptop Hard Drive completely. Once that is done you can insert your XP CD and install it fresh.

Why would you want to go back to XP?! Vista is just so much more... Entertaining!
