Hi all first post I hope you can help.

Maybe I am just too dumb to figure it out, I know I hate the LOOKS of the new search it seems every time I open the search thing it looks different, where is the option to search "Containing Text" I use this option often.

I hate the vista search I just cant make it work, it has got to the point I just boot up my other computer that has win2k and use that search to find my files.

Is their any way to make the search LOOK and FUNCTION exactly like the windows 2000 search does? Maybe their is a classic search some place?

Sorry to vent I am just so frustrated I never had one problem or complaint on the search in win2k, used it for years, it was fast and SIMPLE, no thought required why they change something that worked so well?

Thanks in advance

I don't know about making it look and work like the search of Windows 2000, but maybe this tutorial will help you - http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/158288-advanced-searches.html.

After getting used to the way Windows Search works, I can't possibly imagine going back.

I can't fix Windows Search but if you want a consistent interface, I've been using a
free search program ported from Linux to Windows called locate32 since maybe Windows 98 and it works in every version of Windows I've tried, NT, Win2k, XP and Vista.

The nice thing about it is once you use locate32 instead of Windows Search, then you can turn off all that Windows Indexing Service stuff that runs your HD all the time. :)

If you try it and don't like it, it's easy enough to uninstall it.
