Hi All,

In Vista Folder Option I Not Find A File Types Tab. I Want To Create A New File Type There Also Want To Add Command Prompt In Folder Context Menu. Well I Know It Can Be Possible Via Registry. But It Is Very Complex, Is Vista Change The File Type Tab To Another Menu? Where?

It has been moved:
  1. Click the "Start Orb"
  2. Click "Default Programs"
  3. Click "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" (it can take a few minutes to load this list)
But generally, if you double-click an unknown file type, you will get the "Windows cannot open this file" dialog. Select the option "Select a program from a list of installed programs" and click "OK":
openwith1.jpg

You will then be presented with the "Open With" window. Click "Browse", and locate the program that you could like to use to open the file:
openwith2.jpg

You can also specify a description of the file type, or to always use the specified program to open the file.

Sorry, I didn't add information about the Command Prompt for you.

To quickly open a command prompt window in the currently viewed folder in Explorer, make sure that no files are selected, then <SHIFT>+<RIGHT-CLICK> a empty area of the folder view. That will add the "Open Command Window Here" option to the Right-Click menu.

For some other interesting options to the right-click menus, see the following tutorial - http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/24315-context-shortcuts-menu.html.

Have you tried "Open With..." and then turning on the "Always use the selected program you want to use for this kind of file" option?
