Hello, when I run the windows experience index i get an error message. Probably it is where winsat.exe does the media test.
When I do it manually It just says "can not initialize wmv coding program"

When I let vista do it I read this in the log file:
334179179 (5172) - winsat\main.cpp:1161: > Running Assessment: media '-input winsatencode.wmv -encode winsat.prx'
334179413 (5172) - winsat\main.cpp:1430: > Assessment FAILED due to an error

I have no idea what to do..

any ideas?

Try going to this website and installing ffdshow, this should replace some of the codec issues that you are having and should solve the issue.

This problem could come from your video drivers if you changed them recently or from an application like Pinnacle studio for example.

thank you, but it did not help. I also rebooted before i indexed.
I guess some driver from Pinnacle Studio 10 is the problem. I do not want to go through the long process of uninstalling Pinnacle and I do not know how to disable the driver temporary.

haha, I typed my reply exactly on the moment your suggestion about Pinnacle came in.
Any idea how I can locate and disable that driver temporary?
Or change it? I just read it is the WMV decoder only.
