Temp File Recovery

Okay, let me start by saying I know nothing of Vista. I'm experienced enough on XP, but Vista is very foreign to me.

So my boss uses Vista on his work computer. In his "My Documents" folder, he had a bunch of files turn into a "Temp File" with varying sizes. We want to reverse this, as he says they were important files. Now they can't be accessed, and I don't know what he did to get them to that point.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks!

Re: Temp File Recovery

Hi, justincab, and welcome to the forums.

First of all, you need to realize something that is *inherent* - Vista compared to XP is *not* like comparing baseball to rocket ships - they are not that different. A good analogy would be comparing an older sports car, such as a Mazda RX-7 to an Aston Martin DB7. They're both cars, but it can get easy to get lost in all of the features you find in the DB7 that are simply not available in the RX-7.

Now, it *sounds* like you're referring to Microsoft Office - related files, specifically Word or Excel - but we have to know for sure. Also, Office XP, 2003 and 2007 have the ability to automatically see old unsaved temp file copies and ask you if you want to recover them.

But from what you describe, it could be *any* file type and any associated with a multitude of programs. We simply need more information if my supposition above is incorrect.
