[SOLVED] Vista Screensaver Issue

Got a totally different screensaver problem than found by searching the forum.

I got my screensaver to engage after 15 minutes without any mouse movement.

The thing is, if I am watching a movie, the screensaver will start after the 15 minutes into the movie. Even if I leave a game in the pause mode to get something like food, the screensaver will engage after the 15 minutes. No matter what screensave I use, it still happens.

Why is this happening?

I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 SP1

ps: Please don't say "Why use a screensaver?" This isn't supposed to be happening in the first place.

Re: Vista Screensaver Issue

Hi,

A screensaver (if enabled) becomes active if there is no USER input (keyboard/mouse) for several minutes. A running program has no affect on this, hence, AllMac, the reason why this is happening. Fieseler - are you using a joystick or joypad with your game? For screensaver purposes, these devices are NOT considered as user input devices as described above. The only way around these issues is to disable the screensaver temporarily or to periodically move the mouse or tap a key on the keyboard.

Re: Vista Screensaver Issue

The screensaver isn't supposed to engage if I'm watching a movie. This isn't happening on XP.

Can anybody test this? Set your screensaver on for a minute then start watching a movie in full screen. See if the screensaver starts after the minute.

Cheers

Re: Vista Screensaver Issue

I use JetAudio basically for everything. On XP no screensaver, on Vista, screensaver in all its colors.

Re: Vista Screensaver Issue

Hmm? It's actually due to JetAudio playing movies on Vista x64. Just tested it while a movie was playing and the screensaver came right up after its designated time.

I also tested Media Player Classics as well as Windows Media Player but the screensaver wouldn't start while a movie is playing.

There goes my problem. What works on one OS doesn't meat to work as well on the other.

Cheers guys.
