I am having problems with my pretty much new gateway fx laptop. I can not run any real necessary programs including any internet browser, i am on IE as an admin so i cannot download any programs that have been offered up as solutions from searching. What could i do to fix any of the problems. It will not run as chkdsk /f any regular or safe mode either. Nothing will open with a side by side configuration error as well. any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks for your post as I am having the same issue on a company Toshiba notebook which is only about 4 months old. It had some other problem about 2 months ago that was also related to the SHFOLDER.dll & i was not able to fix this so i had to do a full recovery using the built in Toshiba recovery software to get the notebook back to factory defaults.

Now the issue is with the Side-by-side configuration being incorrect & pointing to the GdiPlus.dll. Nothing unusual has been installed & the computer was running fine until last friday (Nov.7/08) and the last thing i can see is a Vista Update. Either way, i cannot install anything on the computer and nothing will run as this seems to be related back to the graphics card.

I will contact Toshiba to see what they can offer, hopefully a replacement for this lemmon!
