"Your system is running low on resources. You cannot log on" Error

I tried logging on a few times, restarting the computer and such before coming to this site on my mother's computer. After awhile, it said this message:

"Your system is running low on resources. You cannot log on as a new user Please use an account that has already been logged on."

I only have one account on my computer. Also, I have fingerprint software on my Dell XPS m1330. I tried using that to log on but the same message is showing up. Now the fingerprint software is giving me an error as well - some number.

Right now the laptop is off and plugged in. Are there any other steps that I need to take regarding these two new errors?

I just turned my computer back on after 15 minutes off and it said "The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."
In that case, I would try the tutorial first to see if that can help you. It sounds like the fingerprint program may be the root cause of all this.

The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

If it does not help, then see if you are able to boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the fingerprint program.

Safe Mode

You may also need to do a System Restore using a restore point dated before this problem.

System Restore - How to

Hope this helps,

Amen to brink
I have also read the article about the fingerprint security giving this error message
Although i can not find this article
True to the above fact this may not be your problem but may very well be due to very low system specifications
Many people trip up on the common misconception of the recommended requirement of vista
The misconception is most commonly where the end user miss-interoperates the recommended and minimum requirements

For example sake

recommended system requirements are
1GHz processor
1GB of ram/system memory
40GB HDD/hard drive space
128MB of video memory minimum

minimum system requirements are
1GHz processor
512MB of ram/system memory
20GB HDD/hard drive space
128MB of video memory minimum

Both recommended and minimum will run vista however not without extreme resource loss

Fact is that if you want a good system without suffering from huge resource losses then you need to double the recommended system requirements

In example

Recommended system requirements are
2.4GHz processor
2GB of ram/system memory
80GB HDD/hard drive space
256MB of video memory minimum

Here then you will have a stable system with an ample amount of system resources

Remember one important fact..... Vista was designed to run on the most powerful systems currently on the market at the time of release and also for future hardware releases

Microsoft realised that not everyone would be able to afford to update there pc's and that vista would fail and they would make a huge loss in profits with the sales from vista
Microsoft made vista as backwards compatible as they could so as to not loose the trust of potential customers and not end up in a financial loss of an operating system that they had spend millions of $$ on
They may not be so good at making a perfect OS but they are Damn well good at misleading us and taking our hard earned cash

Thanks so much, Shawn!
It booted back on, following the first tutorial. I just have a tendency to break computers so I didn't want to act without asking first.

Any follow-up things I should do?

Nonnordhiel,

If it is running normally again, then that should do it for you. I would recommend keeping good backups of anything you do not want to lose just to be safe. You never know when something may wipe it out for you.

Re: "Your system is running low on resources. You cannot log on" Error

If your system is clean, it still does this when coming out of sleep mode and trying to login. Does anyone have a real fix for this? Do you have a bug number from Microsoft or has someone posted this with Microsoft? I don't want solutions that result restoring the system since I've tested these scenarios out and they don't work. Also, many people think restoring the system is the first thing to do. If you want to listen to amateurs, sure you can restore your system but doesn't always cure the problem. If you have a resolution for the problem, please post.

Thank you,

Obviously a system restore is not the first option, but I would hardly call Brink an 'amateur'

(If you weren't referring to Brink, please disregard)

Not referring to anyone in particular. But thank you for clarifying.
