user account problem with administrator

After changing one of three users to add in parental controls i cannot now change any of the accounts to 'administartor' from 'standard'. This means i cannot change the parental controls back after a period of 'e-grounding'!! Any ideas?

From Newbie to forum, confused and in daughters dog-house.

Hi David and welcome to Vista Forums.

If you do not have any administrator accounts to use to change an account type, then boot into Safe Mode and see if you can change the account type from within there. You should startup in the built-in Administrator account while in Safe Mode if you do not have any regular administrator accounts. You could also just create another administrator account to use instead.

thank you so much for your help my daughter is ever so happy and the computer is finally working for the first time in months i'm amazed you replied so quickly and happy you have done ... we had looked at these possibilites but we were scared to use them, with your reassurance and help we have a fully functioning computer ... thank you!!!
