| Vista Ultimate x64 | What's with the Instant Search? Sometimes, when I search for items in the start menu, it gets iffy about using exact names. For example, if I type 'Event' (for Event Viewer), I get nothing. But, when I remove the 't', the Event Viewer shortcut comes up. The same thing happens when I search for the Task Scheduler (using 'Task' and removing the 'k'). Does anyone else have this problem? |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: What's with the Instant Search? Yanno, I had noticed the same with Task scheduler before - I'd type task and get nothing but type sch and get task scheduler. After you mentioned this I went back and checked - Event and event and ev and Ev and eve and Eve and Even and even all bring up Event viewer - same thing with the letters V i e w e r. So I tried task - and almost fell out of my chair when it worked. I *know* I was having this problem before so I have *no* clue why it is all of a sudden working.... |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: What's with the Instant Search? I've just noticed something else strange: If I type 'tas', I get 'Task Scheduler' and 'Taskbar and Start Menu'. However, when I type 'task', I get nothing. Continuing to type 'taskb' brings back the 'Taskbar and Start Menu' option, as does 'taskba' and 'taskbar'. I'm now thinking, maybe there are certain words that you "can't use" in the search bar (task being one of them) ? |

| Vista 64-bit Ultimate Win7 64-bit Ultimate XP SP3 32-bit Pro | Re: What's with the Instant Search? Hello. I can type "Task" and "task" and get "Taskbar and Start Menu" & "Task Scheduler". I also have "Works" installed so I get "MS Works Task Launcher". Just my two cents! Later Ted |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: What's with the Instant Search? This doesn't seem to be a universal problem, then. It's different on each computer, as johngalt (above) was also having a similar issue. Could it be the language settings? Index locations? Who knows... I've rebuilt my index - the problem is still there. |
