    MIssing Restore Points ?

Went to do a system restore from a few days ago and found a them all missing except from today. I haven't run the cleanup tool to delete them, I have plenty of disk space, 320G x 2( C drive and a D drive).

My system protection settings seem to be fine.

Any ideas what could have happened ?

I managed to get what I needed, but am concerned that I am not getting restore points as I should. My understanding is that the allocated space will be used, then the oldest will roll off and a new one created.

    Hello wwoods!

I don't know if this will answer any questions for you or not, but it's worth a look ...

System Restore "restore points" are missing or deleted

    I hope this helps.

It is my understanding that "Restore Points" can onle be saved for C:\ on C:\ .

Also check this to see the allocated space and available space ...

    Howdy.

You may also want to have a look at this excellent tutorial ...

    System Restore Point - Shortcut

I use it myself, I also added it to the "Start Menu" "Startup Folder" to (like you say)
'force' me to create "Restore Points".

    Re: MIssing Restore Points ?

Thought I would toss in a update here as to what the issue was and how I fixed it. After trying all the ideas above, even trying to run the task in the scheduler manually and nowthing worked. Having 3 Vista systems at home (and this being the only one having a prob) I decided to delete the task on this one.

Now in the task scheduler you can export/import tasks, so after I deleted the one with the prob, I went to one my other systems, exported the task that makes the restore points, and imported that into this one.

Its now working, somehow the task schedule was corrupt.

Thank you wwoods for posting back your solution.

Interesting, I wonder if a sfc /scannow command may have been able to fix it also since it was a bad default task.
