Check that you can get the required drivers for all the hardware componenets. If so, you should be fine.
I'd also check that your favourite/most used software will all work on 64-bit. Most will, but it's good to check.

I love it... 59 years old and you've got a gaming monitor. A man after my own heart.
I'd see if your bios allows you to disable the onboard video? If it does, then get a video card, perhaps Call of Duty 4 too while you're out, and give that monitor a workout..
Some boards don't allow you to disable onboard video, so before you consider a card go in and find out.
Thanks for the welcome and info.
Make sure there is plenty of free space on your C: drive. I had to buy a partitioning program to make more free space. 20Gigs is a safe amount. You will like it, outside of my printer and motorola phone tools, everything works and it is very fast, pcpitstop processor speed more than doubled and memory was about 40% faster.

Hi USMC_Nam_Vet,
You may find this link helpful to. It will help you know what you need to do and look for with 64 bit Vista.

Tears rolling down my cheeks. I have been messing with systems since the Sinclar 8k and don't usually screw up more than I can fix. This time I fried one of the sites on my MB. Did all the usual things, turned off, unplug, wore antistatic strap, but when I rebooted after installing new ram the lights flickered. I quickly uponed the case and felt the ram. They were both hot. Now instead of going from 2 gigs to 4 I have only one! Come income tax time when I get a refund I will have to build another. I've heard with oem software you can't swap out any hardware without having to buy another key.

USMC_Nam_Vet,
Usually with a OEM Vista, as long as you have the same motherboard, and sometimes another motherboad made by the same OEM, you should be able to install the same Vista again with that product key number.
I'm sorry to hear about your fried RAM.
Shawn
Not true, when I dumped the ASUS P5N32-E SLI motherboard, and got my 975XBX2, I was able to install and activate using the same prodcut key from my OEM Vista 64 Ultimate, though all I had to do was call Microsoft to reactivate, and explain why I was reactivating at the time. When switching motherboards, not matter who made it, even if it was made by the same manufacturer, ie such as a different model of motherboard, a call will have to be made to Microsoft to reactivate.
Under normal circumstances Microsoft allows for 10 hardware changes on Windows Vista, once those are used up one will have to call Microsoft. Specifically, if he changes motherboards, during this process, he won't be able to activate over the internet, he will have to call Microsoft, to reactivate over the phone, and will have to tell Microsoft why he is reactivating, ie change of motherboards, otherwise Microsoft might not issue a new activation number.
