Is vista ultimate more resource hog than other vista editions?

I am going to upgrade my vista home premium notebook to vista business, but since my company is providing both business and ultimate upgrades at no cost to me, I am wondering why not upgrade to vista ultimate, since I love what I have with home premium anyway. But if ultimate contains everything that other versions of vista has, it probably means more services running in background, making my system slower. Am I right about my notion, or its just a whim??? Is vista ultimate as snappy as home premium??

nah, thats just a rumour spread about by people who dont have ultimate. It will take up more hard drive space because of all the features, maybe have 2 or 3 services more that im not sure of.

There may be a few additional services running, but since you're planning on installing it onto a laptop, then I'd recommend going with Ultimate.

The one most important feature of Ultimate for you would be the "BitLocker Drive Encryption", which will protect your sensitive information in the event that your laptop is stolen. That alone should be reason enough to choose ultimate edition.

I read elsewhere that BitLocker drive encryption is useless for practical purposes. I probably dont know much about it, but can you please tell me more abt it or lead me to source, any thread/webpage that could explain its important esp while using on a notebook.

Thanks for help.

lol... if it's any consolation I didn't pick it; the boards did it on their own.

I'd like to know where you read that "Bitlocker drive encryption is useless for practical purposes".

Anyway, in addition to Bare Foot Kids response, you can read more about it here "http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/bitlocker.aspx?tabid=2&catid=1".
