| Newbie | Vista install wont boot I have just bought an upgrade for my pc. My new configuration is: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 8GB(4x2GB) SuperTalent 800MHz DDR2 XFX 9800GTX Asus P5B Segate 500GB HDD with 32MB cache now when i try to install Vista Ultimate x64, i select to boot from dvd, i select windows setup, and then i get the msg that there is no ntoskrnl on the system. when i try to install my vista ghost img from my old pc, i menage to install it, and get it up and running but when i try to install some software that tries to extract files from cab files or when i use winzip to extract files i get crc errors. I have tested the HDD and RAM using Segate SeaTools and MemTest86+ Now i have tried and managed to install XP x64 edition without any problems. Any help is apriceated. Thanks in advance Miso EDIT: ok same thing with xp, when i try to extract or install some software that has some compressed files as sources for install and i get the same crc error as on vista img install Last edited by mzmiric5; 08-09-2008 at 07:31 AM.. |

| 47,65,65,6B | Re: Vista install wont boot CRC errors normally are caused by bad media. This would be the DVD in most cases. Try a different DVD to see if this solves the problem, you can use the key for the version you have purchased. As you have installed XP you know it is not your drive. Try reading the Vista disk from within XP. You can look in your error log to see if there are any others problems that may be contributing to this. |

| Newbie | Re: Vista install wont boot it's all fine, there were some trouble with the memory modules, after changing them it's all fine now, it seams that the bad memory module was creating bad sectors and could not cache the files properly. Thanks for help anyways |
