Annoying behavior of navigation pane...

Is there any way to stop the navigation pane from shifting left/right when opening/closing folders. It is VERY annoying. Oh, and did I mention I HATE MS!!:mad:

On a positive note, I have found several fixes for problems in these forums. This is a great place to get help.

I am using "Windows classic folders" and "Display simple folder view in Navigation pane" is turned off. When I click the + to open a folder the entire navigation pane shifts left to line up with the - of the newly opened folder. If you continue to open folders under the newly opened folder, it keeps shifting left. As you move up the chain closing folders it starts shifting right to line up with the +/- . If you know of a registry fix please tell me, I'm not afraid to get into it to fix things.

Hi Al, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Unfortunately, there is no way to stop that. The only workaround that I know that can help make it less annoying is to drag the navigation pane out more to make it wider. This way you can still see all of the expanded folders in the Folder Tree without having to scroll sideways.

I have a question on this same theme but on a slightly different topic. First, several folder navigation pane screenshots I've seen display small triangles to open or close subfolders while I only see plus (+) and minus (-) signs. Is that an option? Where is it specified?

Secondly, the plus and minus disappear when my mouse leaves the folder navigation pane and reappear when I mouse over the folder navigation pane. If my mouse happens to graze the corner, they blink on then blink off. Its terribly distracting. Is there any way I can get them to come on and stay on, or is this unique to me?
