Vista Microsoft's Failure!

Vista has failed to deliver on Microsoft’s promise of a better operating system. After spending many days formatting and reformatting my hard drive to come up with the best possible dual boot system; I found Windows Xp to be not only more flexible but faster on the same hardware.
The lack of advanced installation options is a crippling problem for any user. The need to turn on and off features during installation is paramount to a good installation for advanced users. When it come to upgrading from the OEM software package installed on your computer to another version of Vista be prepared to reinstall all of your software!
Vista’s start menu is one of the problems. You would think that the people that designed the window installer subsystem would have thought about giving you the option of where and under what heading to put programs shortcuts by now.
No ZIP file handler as part of Windows explorer is just plain stupid. The loss of the Windows explorer toolbar is a disaster for those people who do not have any right click shell enhancement such as FileMenu Tools.
By now you would think the designers that work for Microsoft would have given you different user modes to switch to. Each mode would start or stop service depending on the user’s needs or security clearance level. The idea they had was good; but poorly implemented. User account controls is a shot at it but not the answer for your average user.
All of the graphics in the world do not make a good operating system! I run WindowBlinds, Yz Shadow, Visual Task Tips, TopDesk, WinRoll, Iconoid, and UberIcon to give Xp a better graphics package than Vista!
There have been many customizations of Xp on my system to give it a better look and feel. I have done the same with Vista. But after 7 days of only Vista and all of it’s failures I returned to using Xp as my primary operating system.

Note: I have reinstalled Vista in various configurations fifteen times in the past six months

Re: Vista Microsoft's Failure!

Your complaints are consistent with that of a simple nOOb. I have installed Vista hundres of times on just as many different configurations and have had none of the difficulties you are having.

The GUI is perfect and much better then XP. And thats without having to use any 3rd party programs, which really just muck your system up.

Zipo files? WinRAR. Problem solved. Its the same I used for XP.

Since Vista is such a core for you(15 installs and you still cant figure it out) I suggest you uninstall Vista and return to XP until your computer sills advance past the pre k level.

If you really want to use Vista the "right" way, have an expirenced user install it for you so that the problems you have will no longer be an issue.

Troll.

Re: Vista Microsoft's Failure!

It's hard to imagine how MS could have made dual booting any easier? If you already have XP installed the only thing you need is disk space for Vista. Perhaps if you follow a guide things might go better?

Re: Vista Microsoft's Failure!

I use Vista As a backup! After over 25 year of working with various operating systems Vista is the Worst!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 180 + applications installed on both partitions. I do know and full well just how badly they designed it. Windows Millennium comes to mind when I think about Vista. If some of you do not believe me install office 2007 and then corrupt an outlook profile and have to reinstall the whole operating system to fix the problem!

Re: Vista Microsoft's Failure!

I do run Office 2007 on all ten of my systems. From small bus. edition to Proversion to Office 2007 ultimate on my personal system. The kids use the pro version and my wife the small bus. edition.

After over a year of useing them we have never had a corupt anything.

Prehaps my 6yo daughter can give you some pointers on how to use your equipment. I would point you to my 8yo or my 17yo sons but they are advanced users and would probably get frustrated trying to teach you.

Try a for dummies book.

Was your hardware fully Vista compliant? Did you increase your resources by 30%?

Why are you venting your frustrations here? If you're unhappy with a Microsoft product, why not tell them? There are thousands of users here who would strongly disagree with you and help you sort your problems out, but it seems to me that isn't your interest.

Microsoft Corporation <--- go here and complain.
