I am cleaning up some old files on my Vista system. I open a folder, selcect 5 file for example, get "Are you sure you want to move these 5 files to the Recycle Bin, y/n?", click OK and the Vista says "Moving 7,645 files to the Recycle Bin" or some other outrageous number. What?? These are not files that came with Vista but files I installed. I am logged as Administrator.

They could be hidden files and folders in the folder you have chosen to delete.

No, they delete correctly. It is just that the huge number scares me. It happened during a folder copy a couple of times also. I went to copy a folder containing maybe 20 items and it told me it was copying 10,162 items and was going to take 47 minutes. What??

Next time, unhide all the System and Protected Operating System files to see how many show up when they are no longer hidden before deleting to see if that is what it is.
