Solved installing XP problem

Hey people how are ya?We have some new computers at work with Vista on them. One of them we were able to wipe out Vista and setup XP on it after some help from stormy13 (thanks stormy). The other 2 are being stuburn. We used Vista to create a partition and formatted it just fine. Vista will not let us run the XP setup file to install XP as a second OS. It says there is a compatibility issue. Is there a way around this?We also tried to do the same thing that we did to the first computer but when we boot from the XP disk it goes to the blue screen of death when the disk gets done loading the inital files and is ready to go to the screen used for picking the drive to install onto. One XP disk has SP2 on it and the other has SP3 on it. The blue screen using SP2 disk shows a PCI.SYS error and the SP3 disk only shows an error without pointing to anything to blame. Can anyone help me?

if you have vista business or ultimate, Virtualpc is a good way of running xp under vista. Not included with Home edition. There is also VMware.

you could also boot xp cd, erase entire disk, put xp on 1 partition then boot with vista cd and install vista with boot manager on another partition -

But you report a BSOD from xp cd. Sounds like you need to insert SATA drivers at beginning of install when prompted. Or try putting drives in IDE mode from BIOS.

Another thing to look at is ACPI. Try disabling it in BIOS.

Good Luck!

Hey everyone!
Thanks for all your help. We got rid of Vista and put our XP on the new systems. As it turned out the method as to how to do it was different for each computer manufacturer but we overcame the obsticals and got it done. Once again thank you all very much.
