explorer.exe stops responding in Vista

Greetings all and thanks for taking time to hear me out.

I have a Toshiba A205-S7464 Laptop running Windows Home Premium. A while back, I completely reformatted my laptop using the Toshiba-provided restore disk. I reinstalled all of my programs and add-ons, and the computer went on. The reason I reformatted the computer was due to an issue I was having with Explorer.exe.

When I installed SP1 the first time, I started getting and error with the program when it stopped responding with increasing frequency to the point that I could no longer perform any file operations. Thus, I reformatted the computer. Three months from that date and a day after I reinstalled SP1, I am getting the same error.

This occurs at completely random times. It does not occur when I am running a certain program, nor at a point when I am using a lot of resources. I will be browsing, writing, etc. and I will click the Orb to access the start menu and It will report that explorer.exe has stopped responding. If you need any more information such as hijack this logs, hardware configuration, or program info, please tell me. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide!:geek:

Thanks
