Vista - Explorer crashes on right click!

Hi everyone!!

I have a problem sometimes when i made a right click on random items on my computer, because while vista tries to display the right click menu an error appears saying that EXplorer has enconter a problem and must be restarted.

Sometimes does this, and sometimes not, but always when i right click an item.

Any ideas??

Thanks a lot. I took a while to determine which shell extension was causing the problem, it was the WinAce 2.5. But now my vista is working fine.

Yeah, it can take a bit of hunting to find it with so many of them.

OK So I downloaded the ShellExView. But what do I do now? I've never done this type of thing before...

If this has just recently happened to you, then you might consider doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before this happened to see if it can fix this for you automatically.

If this is not an option for you, then the 2 links in my post above will help explain what to do the the ShellExView program. You will basically be disabling the listed Context Menu items one by one until you find out which one is causing the issue.

Start>>Search>>eventvwr.msc

Navigate to Application section and find & read all error messages concern explorer.exe
there you find detailed info about problem
for example, my problem was imageshack uploader
so i deinstaled aplication and all go back to normal.

Thank you so much for that info! I found the application and tried to find where those error messages are but am not sure where to look! How do I find this?

I have the same problem. Sometimes I get the error every time I right click on the desktop, other times it happens once and doesn't do it again. I looked into the shell extension program to help identify my problems source but there are so many things to disable. Seem like my effort become futile. I did however get a message after it happened a few times. I'm not sure if this helps identify the source or not. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I have been having the right click problem for months, It's whenever I right click .exe Files... i Disabled and reinables files for the past hour and i found the one that messed it all up! The File name is CmdLineContextMenu Class its SecuROM from sony, might be from a Video Game, anyways thank you so much Brink... I Your post really helped me and i am very thankfull for you
