1. I have 8GB of ram installed. This is what happens, When first intall and then each time I update and restart, I have to remove 6GB in order to make Vista 64 runs, otherwise I get a blue screen with a memory error. After I can open it with only 2GB, then I have to turn it off, put back in the other 6GB, and Vista will opens. It is bizarre but it is the way it is. I have checked some forums and few peoples have encountered the same problem but haven't find yet a "WHY". (??)
2. I installed Adobe Suite CS3. Vista sent all programs to a folder in C named "Program Files (86)" instead of the regular "Program Files" folder. When I open a program like photoshop, in the preferences, the performance info says that there are only 3GB ram available when there should be 8GB. My question: Do I have to do some extra setup to make Vista x64 sees all 8GB?

Thanks a lot

Basically as I understand it ...

the 2GB install problem is known to MS but has not been addressed yet :(

Your CS3 is a 32bit application running on a 64bit Vista.
because of this it will be installed into the 32bit programs folder "Program Files (86).
as the application is running in 32bit compatibility mode it only has access to the 32bit memory stack which is capped at approx 3.5GB.

Have a check on the adobe site for a 64bit patch for CS3 I know they have one for photoshop CS2 so CS3 should be there.

Saying that don't know if that would give access to all your RAM

In addition to barman58's reply, I'd suggest that you go to your computer/motherboard manufacturer's website and check for Vista x64 driver updates that you may need. While you're there, you can check for the latest non-beta BIOS for your motherboard that may address this memory issue.

Hi ituen, three questions

1 Does your motherboard support 8 Gigabytes?
2 Do you have 4 x 2 Gigabyte sticks by the same manufacturer and same model number
3 Who is the manufacturer of your motherboard and what model is it

Best and Warm Regards
Adrian Wainer
