Account switching

Hi y'all

I'm setting up a new Vista (Business) laptop in work. It has a Domain Account and a local account (plus administrator account enabled too). Ideally when starting up I want my user to have the option of selecting any account through an icon (there only seems to be an icon for the Domain account). In XP there was a drop down between local machine and the domain account - this no longer seems to be the case. Is there a way of activating this in Vista?

Grateful for any advice....

Hi Markiecad nice to see a local address here :D

I'm not using domain myself so this is all hearsay ( or research )

I don't think there is a way to get an icon for a local account where a domain take priority you will have to go back to the old full login method.

the only way to simulate the old login box is by using secpol.msc to change behaviour, not sure exactly where :( but is related to option to hide previous user name on login.

also the new system does not include the old drop-down for domain so that the user will have to put in the full Domain/Username format.

try a search on Technet for more details I'm sure thats where I read it

Sorry it's not much but might be a starting point best of luck :D
