Black Title Bar on Maximized windows

I'm not sure if this is a feature of Vista, or something wrong with my install.

But when I window, whether it be Firefox, any other program, or a Windows Explorer window isn't maximized, the transparent features work fine, and look nice.

But when I make anything full screen (maximized), the title bar goes black and ugly.

What is up with this?

That's crap! :(

Is there any modification that can be made to make it transparent when maximized?

Hi Duckz,

You can try the program VistaGlazz to have your maximized windows transparent. You will need to use the 1.1 beta 3 version towards the bottom with Vista SP1 installed.

Hope this helps,

The FAQ on the VistaGlazz website says it's not compatible with SP1.
This page on their website says SP1 is still beta, so it seems they are not up to date.
VistaGlazz and Windows Vista SP1 (beta) | CodeGazer

That page suggests a different way to patch your dlls manually, instead of the VistaGlazz way. The website they link to does have patched dlls which are compatible with SP1. http://www.withinwindows.com/uxtheme-patches/

I recommend you at least set a restore point (or even better save an image of your system) before trying VistaGlazz because I've read posts on forums reporting that it stopped Vista's themes feature working. That depends on which version of Vista you have (32bit or 64bit, Sp1 or not)

Warning: If you replace any system dlls with patched versions, keep backup copies of the originals.

I have to say I've had trouble with VistaGlazz (under VUx64) twice. But nothing tremendously bad happened, it just made Vista look like Win2K until I uninstalled it. <:-o
