Back to XP...

Yea, like the title say, i went back to XP due to so many issues with some games/apps.

And after a week, i have to say to myself: why did i install Vista anyway????

So stable, so fast, so fast, so..... fast.

I have XP installed with SP3 and everything runs so well, my CPU runs so cooler for some reason, all my games, even Crysis run so better!

AND, what?? Only 200mb of ram is used right now instead of almost 1gb?

x64, Directx10, i wont miss you, damn ressources pigs!

was good to read on this forum when i had troubles with Vista, but now i wont have to, since XP is perfect.

LOL Epicurus,

What happened with this? ;)

Most of the persons who hate Vista is beacause they still use old hardware/software....

Theres no way i would go back to XP now, Vista works like a charm with a up to date PC.

So for the haters, welcome to 2008... its time for a change.

HAHA!

you aint the only one reminds me what i said about Vista before!

BUT... damn.

Things were getting ugly after i said that!

Alots of bugs with Xfire/Steam/mIRC

ALOTS of bugs with game using Punk Buster... alots....

I wanted to play KOTOR again, but the game was keep crashing, GTA:San andreas online was unplayable, several crashes...

and alots of games wasnt working right like Sim City 4, some underground games like Baseball Mogul and a Hockey manager game.

WELL! all these games are not even 10 years old!

so when i said welcome to 2008.... i was talking about old, OLD games.. like commander keen, wolf 3d... etc... :P

but now.... everything is so fine with XP.. i cant believe ive been a "Vista defender", cant remember how many times i did argue with someone saying Vista is bad....

oh well, at least i did learn something... never buy (w/e i dindt bought vista :P) something new untill EVERYONES agree its good.

Just like i learned to not buy new PC parts right when its released, cause now the 9800gtx is 199$ and i f*** paid 400$ for it...

I felt for you guys when I spent 12 hr. of trouble shooting for crashing and installation to the point of gaming the past week end. Well, the problem was caused by bad ASTS contacts to my raid drives.

However, at the same day after the kids piled up on the xp machine, it has failed to start defrag and having problem with internet browser in loading pages.

For the defrag bug I register the defrag components, regsvr32 dgrasnap.dll and regsvr32 dfrgui.dll, reinstall dfrg.inf and adjusting virtual memory size and none helps. I am looking at a clean system restore right now which means another day of work this weekend. I Appreciate for helpful solution suggestions.

I believe anything could happen to what ever os; sometime could caused by hardware malfunction.

Cheers

I only have one game I needed XP for and it was a terrible port to begin with (unoptimized and buggy to all hell, even after patching).

I managed to finagle it into working on Vista through some research but there's a sound problem now (it doesn't output sound effects correctly, though music and voices are fine).

I think I may just break down and track down a console copy instead of fighting with the PC version. Aside from that, I can't compile .c files but that's a non-issue (I have to write them as .cpp and compile them that way but I can still write them as C programs if I import stdlib.h). Otherwise I prefer Vista to XP.
