When i try to do system recovery It says my partition is missing or something, so I called HP and im getting my recovery cd shipped to me. I found this program called PTDD Partition Table Doctor 3.5
and also Recover My Files

i was wondering if this could fix my partition b/c when I go to my computer i can see i have my c drive and my d drive and on my d drive is stays recovery???

any thoughts if these programs do what I need?

the hp dude said that someone probably saved something onto it or something.....I was like okay that doesn't help me....So i thought my friends that always help me out could give me some advice

thanks adeang.

Hello adeang.

Is this how you're trying to do the recovery?

HP Recovery Center

The "HP Recovery Center" will give you the option to send to backup anything you
don't want to lose, so have backup media available to use if you choose this option.

With the machine off press the power button, as soon as you do that start tapping the F11 key.
That should take you to the HP Recovery Center. When there just follow the prompts.
It is pretty much self explanatory. From the time you boot into F11 (not counting
any backups you choose to make) you should be back on a working desktop in about
30 minutes. After it restarts just follow the prompts again to finish the process.

If your first option is system restore select no, which should take you to system recovery.
You want to try system recovery not system restore, unless you have good restore points!

Keep us informed!

well ted thanks for quick reply, but my desktop is working I just want to recover to how my vista was when I first turned on my computer when I purchased it.

Okay now down to business.

The Indian man I talked to on the phone from HP told me to do what you just told me to do "f 11" tapping and so on.

but when I do that nothing happens it goes to Vista Boot loader, and by the way when I first got my computer it used to go directly to vista, but now I see the vista boot loader screen and it asks me if i want to boot into vista or older versions of windows.

please help thanks

Hello again.

Do you have other versions of Windows installed? (dual boot)
If so, doing a "Factory Recovery" won't repair your problem.

Hello.

If you don't have a Vista install disc and you want to do a "Factory Recovery" you
can contact HP with the model number / serial number of the machine in question
and they will send you a set of recovery discs for your machine for a small fee.
HP keeps copies of recovery discs for almost all the machines they produce.
