Vista Services - Where are the settings stored?

Hi I am wanting to do a clean install of Vista Ultimate soon, I was wondering if there is anyway I can save all the settings for my Services (services.msc).

I have Vista services tweaked the way I like them and having the settings saved would make reinstallation a lot quicker and easier.

I know they can be exported as a TXT document but I was wondering if I can save the Registry entries and if so, where are they stored?

:)

As far as I can tell, there is no way of doing this, short of exporting the Registry keys where services settings are stored. Even then, I've never done this, so I can't be sure whether or not you'll be able to re-import those same registry keys.

But this does raise interesting questions. Why are you reinstalling Vista? Is it because you are experiencing problems with your current installation, and if so, have you considered that those same problems are the result of your tweaking the services? In which case, saving and reloading services settings will render a re-install moot, because you'll be saving and reloading whatever it is that is causing the problem...

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The reason I am reinstalling windows is because I bought my pc new from Dell, it came with a 10gb Recovery partition (which is to the left of the C: drive) which I dont use, I dont like all the bloatware that it installs. It also means I have to reinstall SP1 when I use recovery.

I have a Vista SP1 (Aug '08) disk and all updated drivers/software stored on an external hard drive.

I am also deleting the Dell diagnostic (EISA) partition as I have this on disk anyway.

I wish these companies would create a recovery partition without all the additional software!

:)

Id take screenshots of ur services.msc, it still takes as long to set them up, but at least you dont have to look up stuff on the net.
