HELP! Laptop Goes Crazy!?

Something goofy is going on with my laptop. Maybe someone can help me.

Everything was going great a couple of days ago. Then, I downloaded an Excel file into my laptop which I then downloaded into my Garmin GPS. After which, I checked my email, surfed the web some and then shut it down for the night.

Then, yesterday, my wife fired it up and got this message that something was corrupt with my hard drive and it wanted to fix it. It gave me two options. First, to allow it to do the fix and second to start windows normally. I allowed it to try to fix itself. It began doing what ever it wanted to do and about 4-5 minutes later, the screen went blank. I left it that way for about an hour. Still nothing. I then shut it off and then turned it back on again. Same screen. This time, I selected "start windows normally". It appeared like it was doing OK and then all of a sudden, the screen went blank again.

Today, I called Gateway support and they tell me that the "fix" could take a couple of hours. So, I fired it up and selected the option to fix itself. I then left it alone for about 3 hours. Still, nothing but a blank screen.

Can anyone suggest what I should do? The laptop is only about 2-3 months old. I'm starting to get a bit annoyed and need my laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

My Computer

This happened to me in Vista 32 bit.

Yeah it sucks. Try pushing F8 right after the Bios finish and see if you can get into Safe mode?

I ended up just reinstalling Vista since I had just got the laptop and had nothing to lose. Soon after I switched Vista 64 and smooth sailing since.

If you can get into safe mode try doing a restore to a previous time. Try doing a repair install from safe mode.
