2gb or 4gb help all you gurus

Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 Dedicated 128MB
here i have 2 year old hp laptop. hp says i can only upgrade it to 2 GB but all you hardware gurus out there can advice me wheather i can upgrade it to 4gb or not.
forgot to mention 945GM chipset

It would depend on your mobo, not the hardware that you've listed there. If you say the system can only handle 2 gigs we can only go on what you've told us. Honestly, I think 2 gigs is enough.

That may simply be all the HP will supply this specific laptop with and you may be able to use more, but I can't find a definative answer. Like I said before, 2 gigs should be plenty and 4 gigs may be overkill...this is just my perception.

you are using a 32bit os anyway so 3.2 GB would be the most ram your laptop could see.

Sure. But when it comes to Vista, 3GB is quite a bit more than 2GB.

According to Crucial (Memory company), the maximum memory the dv6137tx can take is 2GB. If anyone other than HP would know if the system could support more than 2GB of RAM, they would know.

ok thanks i have seen that specs page already the only reason i asked as on some other website someone said that i can use 4gb but i knew no website got more gurus then vistax64.com i am also planning to buy a new desktop like a high end one like the ones that you gurus use as i am studying computer also i like to play lot of high graphic and normal graphic games ( thats the main reason i wanted to upgrade ram ) i will take a assemble not a dell or hp. any good configration suggestions ..
