I have recently purchased a ASUS laptop which has windows vista installed on it . I have logged on to it when I first got it but when I turned it back on a couple of days later it has locked me out asking for a password but I had never entered a password last time and have no idea what it would be . It has two users installed on it one says Mobile Manager and the other says Mine both asking for passwords and both are unknown to me . I have a desktop that I am using presently with Window XP on it but would love to be more mobile with the laptop can anyone help ?? Leighton

I recently had a similar problem with my Vista desktop PC. I tried a password recovery tool, but didn't get anywhere. Dell said I'd have to reinstall Vista to get my computer back. If you get to the point where you have to re-install Vista, the reinstall will wipe your data files. If you want to save any data, you might do as I did. Remove the drive from your laptop and install it in a stand alone enclosure. Connect the enclosure to your desktop (mine was an XP machine and I used the USB port) and you should be able to read/copy all of your data files. Then you can replace the drive in your laptop and do the reinstall. Good luck.
