Vista 64 SP1 - Monitor profile not loading....still!

I'm Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and using basICColor Display software, in conjunction with an Eye1 Match 2, to profile my monitor.

I have done the following:

1. Switched off the three Nvidia items in Startup.

2. Switched off Windows Firewall - as it keeps reminding me!

3. Switched off User Account Control (UAC).

4. Rebooted the machine.

5. Profiled the monitor.

Monitor now looks fine.

However, after the next reboot - while I no longer get the "UAC prevented some items from launching at startup" message (i.e. Video LUT loaders) because UAC is turned off - the profile is no longer there. I have grey patch test strips on the desktop that reveal the change in profile immediately.

If I right click on the desktop and choose Personalize/Display Settings/Advanced Settings/Colour Management, the profile created by basICColor is listed as the default profile and is the ONLY profile listed in that dialogue. So, why does it look diffrerent now to just after when I created it?

One last thing: Colour Solutions (i.e. the people that make basICColor Display) Video LUT Loader is ticked in System Configuration/Startup. i.e. It IS a Startup item. I presume that it should be.

Vista (unlike its wonderful XP Pro stablemate) dumps monitor profiles. It really is about time that Microsoft got the finger out and sorted this problem if they really want Vista to be taken seriously by imaging professionals. Complaints about it are all over the web now (never mind the drivers - or lack of! - issue) and solutions are needed.

Any ideas what else I might try to preserve

Many thanks.
