Windows Dreamscene won't work

I am having a problem running windows dreamscene. It is greyed out when i right click my desktop and if i go to the personalization menu I am able to select windows dreamscene but nothing happens. Does this have anything to do with my Nvidia card?

Hello Langebleu, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Do you have the Windows Aero color scheme turned on? You may also need to refresh your Windows Experience Index (WEI) score. Press the Windows key + Pause/Break key and click on the WEI link to be able to do so.

Also check the warning box in the tutorial below for some good troubleshooting tips for Dreamscene.

Thanks for your help, Dreamscene is still a no go and Aero is the default color scheme. Also, the pause break key are seperate on my system but it seems the FN + Windows key + Pause key perform the same function - opens system properties (but won't refresh). I went through the Dreamscene site and followed to a tee but nothing. The option is still greyed out and Dreamscene still won't work. I will try to reinstall and see if this does anything.

have you installed the media updates from ultimate extra's, is this a new install as the os doesn't come with any on disc, you will know if you have any vids as they will be displayed in the dropdown tab for dreamscene content.

if you have and you still don't get it then try locating the vid files on your system see if you can activate them from there.file location C:\Windows\Web\Windows DreamScene.......... hope this helps

I have all the updates and the 14 mpeg files, I reinstalled Dreamscene and still nothing. I tried to activate the video's from their folder, still a no go but the videos work fine in WM player (so they are not corrupt), and the volume control for dreamscene was added to my volume mixer. I just don't seem to have the option to use the dreamscene application???

Good news, I have been able to get DreamScene to work but only with the sample video's on my system which are in .wmv format, the .mpg "dreamscene videos" provided by microsoft for dreamscene don't work. Oddly enough however the .mpg files that I downloaded from the web function perfectly. I don't understand why this is, but at least progress has been made and I seem to be finally narrowing down the problem.
